Kiama Council is bringing back two of our most popular waste‑reduction events, Second Hand Saturday and the Household Bulky Waste Drop Off, making it easier for our community to clear out the post‑Christmas clutter in a safe and sustainable way.
Second Hand Saturday - 7 March 2026
Second Hand Saturday is back, giving residents the chance to sell, swap or trade pre‑loved items and keep them circulating within our community.
Registrations open 13 February, and residents wanting to take part can book online.
Don't forget, all Kiama ratepayers can collect a FREE native plant at the event!
Household Bulky Waste Drop Off Event - 14-22 March 2026
Following Second Hand Saturday is our free and very popular Household Bulky Waste Drop Off, perfect for items that can't be placed in your kerbside bins.
This includes old furniture, mattresses (2 max. per household), sporting goods, carpets, rugs, baby items and other bulky household waste.
This event is open to residents who pay for a waste service through their rates and only one booking per household, terms and conditions apply.
A full list of accepted items will be available on our website. Registrations open 20 February.
A simple way to start the year sustainably
These events are a great way to:
- reduce household clutter after Christmas
- responsibly dispose of items you no longer need
- give useful goods a second life
- help reduce waste going to landfill
Remember our Community Recycling Centre in Minnamurra is open Monday to Saturday and accepts a wide range of recyclable and problem household items all year round.
