Port Campbell incident

CFA would like to express its deepest sympathy following the tragic incident which has occurred at Port Campbell this morning.

CFA's Port Campbell Brigade Captain Phil Younis has been airlifted to hospital in a serious but stable condition after being involved in the operation to rescue a swimmer in distress in his role as a Life Saving Victoria volunteer.

CFA is supporting Captain Younis' family and other members of the Port Campbell community during this difficult time.

CFA Acting Chief Officer Gavin Freeman paid tribute to those who have lost their lives, risking theirs, to help others.

"Our thoughts are with our emergency service partners, and colleagues, from Life Saving Victoria and the Victoria State Emergency Service, who these members of the community also volunteered with."

"We know this is a devastating time for the volunteers' family and friends and the broader community, many of whom would have known all the volunteers involved."
