Port Melbourne stabbing witness appeal

Police are renewing their appeal for witnesses after a woman was stabbed in Port Melbourne on 14 October, Victoria Police say.

The incident happened at a multi-level apartment building on Florence Street at 9.45pm.

Investigators have been told that a man was yelling outside the block of flats when an occupant on the ground floor opened her door and told him to leave.

The man approached the front door of the flat and slashed at the security door with a knife he was carrying.

A neighbour came out of her adjoining flat and told the man to leave.

An altercation took place and the 30-year-old female neighbour received a slash wound to the back of her head before the man ran from the scene.

Investigators have spoken to a number of key witnesses and have released a computer generated image of a man they believe may be able to assist with their enquiries.
