The Port of Sale, the historic centre of Sale, is the jewel in the township's crown, offering arts, culture, education and recreation spaces. But much more is planned for the popular precinct.
Last year, Wellington Shire Council initiated the Precinct Masterplan review process, with ideas and suggestions sought from a range of targeted key stakeholders with a direct interest in the Port.
This process has resulted in a master plan that is on public display from Monday 15 March to 19 April at the Port of Sale customer service counter and at your.wellington.vic.gov.au.
The master plan aims to promote a well-connected environment that offers gathering spaces, activation through events and markets, and clever use of strategic areas adjacent to the site, including the former police station and TAFE sites. A potential expansion of The Wedge cultural centre is also planned.
"This plan is all about creating a precinct that attracts residents and visitors, provides an attractive setting for work and play, and celebrates the precinct's culture and heritage," Wellington Shire Council Mayor Garry Stephens said.
The community is invited to comment on the master plan then, in June, the plan will be updated based on comments received and is expected to be presented to Council in July for final approval.
