20 November 2025 update
Latrobe City Council undertakes an annual program of works to maintain the municipal road network, with $14.5 million allocated in this year's budget for Local Road Reseal and Road Rehabilitation Programs. As part of Council's 2025/26 Local Road Reseal Program, Post Office Place in Traralgon was identified for an asphalt overlay.
This work required removal of the existing road surface overnight, with bitumen sealing works taking place earlier this morning to minimise disruption and avoid road closures within the busy CBD area.
Unfortunately, extensive stripping of the new seal has occurred due to unfavourable weather conditions and high traffic volumes. Council's contractor has returned to site to provide interim rectification works today while permanent seal repairs will take place later this afternoon under reduced traffic conditions. The road will then be asphalted later tonight.
Motorists are encouraged, where possible, to avoid Post Office Place and adhere to all signage and traffic management in place until Friday morning.
We understand that some motorists have been unfortunately impacted. Council has received a number of calls from individuals, we encourage anyone impacted to please contact Council on 1300 367 700 to speak to one of our customer focus agents.
Latrobe City Council apologises for any inconvenience caused by these works and is working with contractors to have the road surface rectified prior to tomorrow morning.
