A Victorian has started the month of February $40 million richer after winning division one in tonight’s Powerball draw – they just might not know it yet.
The elusive winner held the only division one winning entry nationally in Powerball draw 1394 on Thursday 2 February 2023. They take home the entire $40 million jackpot.
In addition to the sole division one winner, there were 1,330,835 winners in divisions two to nine who won more than $24,588,923.20. This includes 26 division two winners who each took home $26,183.75.
Although the entry is registered to an online account, officials from The Lott are unable to reach the winner tonight to deliver the remarkable news.
The Lott spokesperson Anna Hobdell said she was waiting with bated breath for the victorious Victorian to answer their phone and discover their life-changing prize.
“Myself and the team at The Lott were ready to speak with Powerball’s newest division one winner straight after the result of tonight’s draw, but sadly when we called our winner’s number, it went to voicemail,” she said.
“If you see a flurry of missed calls on your phone, you could be the winner we’re trying to contact about the life-changing news.
“How exciting would it be to discover you’ve won $40 million at the end of the working week. There’d be no better way to enter the weekend!
“We’re urging all Powerball players who purchased an entry into tonight’s draw to check their tickets as soon as possible.
“If you discover you are holding the division one winning ticket, contact The Lott on 131 868 to begin the process of claiming your multi-million-dollar prize.”
The winning numbers in Powerball draw 1394 on Thursday 2 February 2023 were 7, 35, 31, 2, 24, 21 and 15. The all-important Powerball number was 18.
Across Australia, there was one division one winning entry in Powerball draw 1394 – One in Victoria.
The Lott’s division one winning tally has now reached 247 so far this financial year, including 95 won by Tatts customers.
In 2022, 22 Powerball division one winning entries across Australia pocketed more than $764.39 million in prize money.
During this time, Powerball offered a $160 million jackpot – the biggest prize ever offered by any Australian lottery game – that was won by three division one winning entries.
Of the 22 Powerball division one winning entries in 2022, 13 landed in New South Wales, four in Victoria, two each in Queensland and Western Australia, and one in South Australia.
Last financial year, Australia’s official lotteries contributed more than $1.6 billion via state lottery taxes and donations to help community initiatives, such as hospitals, health research, disaster relief and education.
