Powering future in ADF

RAAF

Officer Cadet Jordi Krikke is one-step closer to achieving his lifelong dream to become an ADF electronics engineer in the outback.

Having recently completed military training at the Australian Defence Force Academy (ADFA), just one more year of academic studies at UNSW Canberra stands between Officer Cadet Krikke and his future role in the Air Force, where he will serve as part of a highly skilled and professional aircraft maintenance team.

Officer Cadet Krikke has welcomed the change to military life, a transition from his roots in Alice Springs where his family ties run deep.

He attended St Philip's College, the same school his parents graduated from 24 years prior.

"The beginning of my ADFA journey was daunting. I wasn't sure what to expect, but everyone was in the same boat and the mates I made at the beginning of ADFA, continue to be my best mates and supporters to this day," Officer Cadet Krikke said.

The highlight for Officer Cadet Krikke was his work experience at RAAF Base Tindal, NT, where he hopes to one day be posted.

"This opportunity was awesome as it allowed me to perform maintenance tasks on the F-35A and observe my future ADF role," he said.

Officer Cadet Krikke's experience at ADFA has cemented him with cutting-edge military and leadership training.

"It's a really good opportunity to learn and grow as a leader while being in an environment where mistakes are accepted and learned from," he said.

When he wasn't studying or training, Officer Cadet Krikke was playing AFL for the ADFA Rams or social volleyball, activities that fostered personal growth and assisted in developing a network of professional colleagues.

"ADFA has helped with my career goals and provided me with friends who are there for life. I will miss ADFA, but I am excited to see what lies ahead for my future in the ADF," he said.

Officer Cadet Krikke will join the ranks of distinguished ADFA alumni, known for their excellence and contributions to the defence of Australia.
