PPE register to support local businesses

Michael Ferguson,Minister for State Growth

The Tasmanian Government has established a PPE supply register to assist Tasmanian businesses needing Personal Protective Equipment in order to continue operating safety.

There are global shortages of PPE due to the COVID-19 outbreak and our authorities are doing a fantastic job sourcing supplies for our frontline medical, support and emergency personnel, with these stocks rightly being prioritised.

However, there is a need for PPE across other areas of our economy, which is why we have established the register on the State Growth website.

Through this register, manufacturers and suppliers of PPE can list their business and products to help local businesses find the PPE they need.

The register is being provided as a service to both businesses and suppliers to help everyone get through the difficulties caused by COVID-19, and anyone using the site should undertake due diligence to ensure products meet their requirements.

Importantly, businesses purchasing PPE should ensure products meet the relevant standards and requirements of their industry as well as the guidance of health and work safety authorities before purchase.

The register is temporary and will be removed when increased demand for PPE has subsided.

We will continue to do all we can to help Tasmanian businesses get through these extremely challenging times.
