Jeremy Rockliff has one simple question to answer today: is Jane Howlett being investigated by the Integrity Commission?
A simple yes or no is all that's required.
The Premier cannot simply say this is 'in the past'. A two year investigation by the Integrity Commission would mean it is very much a current issue - one that he would be aware of.
If it is not Ms Howlett, which one of his Ministers is it? The information that is available means it is almost certainly a member of Mr Rockliff's team.
There is nothing in the Integrity Commission Act preventing the Premier outlining whether his Lyons Candidate is under investigation.
His attempts to evade answering the question and failure to rule it out makes it more likely that she is actually under investigation.
You can run from this issue Premier but you can't hide.
It is straight out of the Peter Gutwein playbook who claimed he was confident that Adam 'Terry' Brooks was a reputable candidate during the election campaign in 2021. Mr Brooks was later charged with multiple offences.
