Enabling works to deliver the Tasmanian Government's $86 million Burnie Courts Complex is set to get underway in the coming weeks.
The new Burnie Courts Complex will improve access to justice in the North and North West of the State, with contemporary, fit-for-purpose facilities for clients and stakeholders.
Attorney-General Guy Barnett said consultation with stakeholders on upcoming works at the site will commence from Monday as the project takes its next steps.
"The project is moving in a great direction, with preparations of the site underway and demolition and removal of the current building about to begin," the Attorney-General said.
"The new Complex - ideally located adjacent to the Burnie Police Station and in close proximity to other client-related services - will support improved court operations and security.
"We are working through final planning and development requirements, with a Request for Tender to appoint a contractor to be released following Burnie City Council approvals.
"I'm very much looking forward to this project starting, creating and supporting local jobs and boosting economic activity in the local area."
