We're bringing Billilla Mansion back to life with works to restore key heritage features, enhance accessibility, and revitalise the historic home for community use.
Proposed works will be delivered in stages over a number of years, with the aim to preserve the mansion's architectural integrity while enhancing its accessibility and functionality. This includes restoring original features, upgrading lighting and amenities, improving access with ramps, new public toilets, and activating the gardens for cultural and community events.
We've applied for a Heritage Victoria permit to undertake these works. Heritage Victoria are advertising the permit application and are accepting feedback and enquiries relating to heritage concerns until 12 August 2025.
This project is underpinned by the Billilla Conservation Management Plan, with the goal to return the mansion to the Bayside community for the first time in over 15 years.
Works are currently underway to replace the public amenities in Billilla Gardens.
