Preview Of IFLM Consultation

Dept of Climate Change, Energy, Environment & Water

The draft Integrated Farm and Land Management (IFLM) consultation documents are available to preview before the consultation opens on 27 January 2026.

About the draft IFLM method

This draft IFLM method is the first Australian Carbon Credit Unit (ACCU) Scheme method to allow multiple activities that store carbon in the land to occur on the same property.

It sets out how landholders can earn carbon credits by changing the management of their land to:

  • regenerate native forests where it has been previously cleared or suppressed, and
  • grow native forest by environmental or mallee plantings.

The method provides 2 approaches to estimate the amount of carbon using the Full Carbon Accounting Model (FullCAM):

  • a model only approach
  • a hybrid approach where modelled estimates are refined by measurements in the project.

The modular design enables more activities, technologies and carbon pools to be added over time, giving greater flexibility to land managers.

Next steps

The consultation will open on 27 January 2026 for 28 days.

Feedback from the consultation will inform the final method development and the Emissions Reduction Assurance Committee's (ERAC) assessment. The ERAC will make a decision on whether the method complies with the Offsets Integrity Standards (OIS).

Once the ERAC are satisfied the method complies with the OIS, they will recommend the method be made to the Assistant Minister for Climate Change and Energy.
