Media Background
The Royal Australian Corps of Signals is a team of soldiers who are technical specialists that provide communications, electronic warfare and cyber capabilities to support military operations.
For a century, Army signallers have been at the heart of military operations - providing, protecting, and evolving military communications. Signallers have ensured commanders can make informed decisions and troops stay connected on operations. Signallers are also involved in cyber and electronic warfare operations in support of the Australian Defence Force. Their dedication, sacrifices, and resilience have been essential to our success and this milestone is an opportunity to reflect on their role in shaping our history and future.
It is estimated that in the order of 107,000 personnel have served in the Corps since World War I.
Since and including World War II, 42,000 RA Sigs personnel have served on operations.
