Cumberland detectives have commenced an investigation after a man was kidnapped, stabbed and left in a car boot in Sydney' west this weekend.
About 6.50am today (Sunday 4 January 2026), emergency services were called to a carpark on Woodville Road, Villawood, following reports of a concern for welfare.
Officers attached to Bankstown Police Area Command arrived to find a man tied up in the back of a Toyota sedan.
The man – aged 29 – was treated at the scene for stab, burn and assault injuries to his legs and head before being taken to hospital in a stable condition.
On arrival, emergency services also assisted in an unrelated matter after a mother accidently locked her child in a car. The child was uninjured.
A crime scene has been established and detectives attached to Cumberland Police Area Command have commenced an investigation into the incident.
Following initial inquiries, police believe the man was kidnapped from Military Road, Guildford, between 4pm and 5pm yesterday (Saturday 3 January 2026).
