In this paper, BCARR looks at the link between improved broadband adoption and productivity growth at the individual business level for the period 2009-10 to 2018-19.
The research shows that firms that switch from DSL to fibre/cable-based broadband experience increased productivity growth. Growth is highest in the year immediately following adoption of high-speed broadband.
The research also found that more productive firms tend to have high-speed broadband connections.
