Minister for Trade, Tourism and Investment Dan Tehan will travel to Singapore to strengthen Australia's trading and tourism relationships and promote investment in Australia.
Mr Tehan will meet with his Singaporean counterpart, Minister for Trade and Industry Gan Kim Yong, and Singapore's Minister for Transport S Iswaran to reaffirm Australia's close bilateral trade relationship and connectivity with Singapore. He will also attend the Bloomberg New Economy Forum.
On the sidelines of the Forum, Mr Tehan will meet with a range of ministerial and business partners including the United States Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo for the first time since her appointment by the Biden Administration.
"Australia and Singapore are working closely together on opportunities in green energy, digital trade, fintech and tourism as well as our shared commitments to the global rules-based trading system," Mr Tehan said.
"I look forward to discussing how to advance US strategic economic cooperation in the Indo-Pacific to support a resilient, stable and prosperous region. The announcement by the United States that they are developing an Indo-Pacific economic framework presents us with another opportunity to progress a regional digital trade agreement and other initiatives such as closer cooperation on critical supply chains."
Upon return to Australia, Mr Tehan will meet his New Zealand counterpart Minister for Trade and Export Growth Hon Damien O'Connor to discuss Australian and New Zealand cooperation in multilateral trade forums, such as the upcoming 12th Ministerial Conference of the WTO.
Mr Tehan will travel to Singapore on a Vaccinated Travel Lane flight from Australia. As a returning Australian citizen to Victoria, he will not be required to quarantine on his return to Australia.
