Protestors arrested on Sydney Harbour Bridge

Police have arrested 10 people and continue with an operation on the Sydney Harbour Bridge, after a group of protestors were detected by security officers earlier today.

About 5.15am (Tuesday 14 May 2019), security staff operating on the Sydney Harbour Bridge observed several people on the bridge.

A number of people were detained by security personnel, but others were able to climb under the structure.

Police from Sydney City Police Area Command attended and were assisted by officer from the Rescue and Bomb Disposal Unit, Marine Area Command and PolAir in removing protestors from beneath the bridge.

Ten people have so far been arrested and conveyed to Day Street and Surry Hills Police Stations to assist with inquiries.

The operation continues to remove three other protestors who are attached to ropes beneath the bridge.
