A man has been detected allegedly travelling more than 70km over the speed limit in North Parramatta, NSW Police say.
Operation Franklin, consisting of officers attached to the Traffic & Highway Patrol Motorcycle Response Team, were conducting stationary speed enforcement duties on James Ruse Drive at North Parramatta.
About 8.40pm yesterday, a Hyundai Veloster allegedly sped past officers travelling at 161km/h in a 90kph zone.
The driver, a 17-year-old Oatlands man, was stopped near Pennant Hills Road exit. He was issued with an infringement notice for exceed the speed limit over 45kph and also issued with an immediate licence suspension.
Assistant Commissioner Michael Corboy of the state's Traffic & Highway Patrol Command, said speeding drivers continue to run the risk on our roads.
"Speeding is still the biggest singer killer on NSW roads, contributing to over 40 per cent of the road deaths each year.
"Each time you choose to speed, you risk not only your life, but the lives of all other road users.
"There is nothing safe about speeding, and it can cost you more than your licence, it could cost your life or the lives of others." said assistant Commissioner Corboy.
