QLD Police Makes Emergency Declaration in Bloomsbury

Queensland Police have made an emergency declaration under the Public Safety Preservation Act (PSPA) in relation to a truck crash in Bloomsbury, just south of Proserpine, this morning.

Around 11.30am, emergency services were called to the Bruce Highway near Caping Road, following reports a truck had rolled and was leaking a toxic substance.

An exclusion zone was established with a five-kilometre radius.

Police are evacuating properties along Stafford Road, Campbells Road, Caping Road and O'Donnells Road.

Traffic is being diverted at Kunipipi Road for southbound traffic and Midge Point Road for northbound traffic.

Motorists are urged to avoid the area or expect significant delays.
