Police have made an emergency declaration under the Public Safety Preservation Act (PSPA) in Beaudesert this morning as police respond to a serious incident.
Officers were called to a residence in Birnam Street around 4.05am today and the PSPA was declared at 5.15am.
The PSPA encompasses Birnam Street, James Street, Gordon Street and Beauview Crescent, Beaudesert.
Specialist police and negotiators are speaking with a 51-year-old man.
Residents have been evacuated and the community is asked to avoid the area.
