PSPA declared, Edmonton

Police have made an emergency declaration under the Public Safety Preservation Act (PSPA) in relation to an armed man in Far North Queensland.

Officers were called to a residence in Hyacinth Close, Edmonton around 6am today.

Specialist police and negotiators are speaking with a 42-year-old man.

Police declared a PSPA at 8.54am today and contained the incident to a home and adjacent properties.

Residents are urged to remain in their homes.

Police have closed Hyacinth Close to all traffic at the intersection of Cattleya Close.
