PTC officer bitten during Parramatta arrest, NSW

A police officer has been bitten during the arrest of a woman at Parramatta Railway Station, NSW Police say.

Officers attached to the Police Transport Command were patrolling the station precinct about 4pm yesterday, when a woman attempted to board a train allegedly without a valid Opal card.

When police spoke to the woman, she allegedly became aggressive and refused to comply with directions.

A struggle ensued when police attempted to arrest the woman, during which a male officer was bitten on his right forearm.

The 20-year-old woman was taken to Parramatta Police Station and charged with five offences:

• Assault police/cause actual bodily harm

• Assault police

• Spit in or on passenger vehicle, train or public area

• Use offensive language

• Fail to comply with a direction.

The woman, from Kingsgrove, was refused bail to appear in Parramatta Local Court today.

The police officer has been treated in hospital for the injury and given a tetanus shot.
