Public appeal following robberies and assaults in Logan, QLD

Police are appealing for victims and witnesses to come forward following a series of alleged robberies and assaults at Marsden on April 2, Queensland Police say.

It is alleged that around 9.45pm on Monday, a man and woman were walking along Chambers Flat Road at Marsden when they were approached by a group of nine teenagers.

The group allegedly demanded property from the couple, then assaulted them when the man refused.

The man was punched and kicked repeatedly, while the woman was pushed.

The woman then ran onto the road where she flagged down a car carrying two men.

The driver and passenger got out of the car to assist the couple, but were also allegedly assaulted by the group, before the teens ran from the scene.

A short time later around 10pm, the same group allegedly approached another couple walking along Macaranga Street at Marsden and demanded property.

When the 25-year-old man refused, he and his 23-year-old wife were allegedly assaulted before the group stole his shoes, phone, watch and two wallets.

The 25-year-old man sustained minor injuries to his face and torso, while his 23 year-old wife was uninjured. Both were treated at the scene by paramedics before being transported to Logan Hospital in a stable condition.

It is then alleged that around 10.30pm, the group attended a private address on Cabernet Court at Kingston where they have damaged a fence, before assaulting a 19-year old man and a 15-year- old boy, resulting in minor facial injuries.

The group then allegedly threatened a 19-year-old woman at the address with a knife, before stealing her car and crashing it into a neighbouring property.

The dog squad tracked the group to nearby bushland, where eight teenagers were arrested.

Two 15-year-old Kingston boys, three 14-year-old Woodridge boys and a 13-year-old Loganlea boy have all been charged with Robbery, Unlawful Use of a Motor Vehicle and Wilful Damage.

All will be dealt with under the Youth Justice Act.

An 18 year-old Wavell Heights man has also been charged with one count of robbery. He is due to reappear at Beenleigh Magistrates Court on the May 21.

Police are appealing for the first couple who were allegedly attacked by this group – and the two men who were assaulted whilst assisting them – to come forward and assist further with investigations.
