Public assistance sought following fatal traffic crash in Redcliffe, QLD

Police are seeking public assistance following a fatal traffic crash this afternoon in Redcliffe, Queensland Police say.

Around 12.45pm, a white Hyundai station wagon being driven by a 22-year-old woman was travelling eastbound on Anzac Avenue through the intersection of Ashmole Road, which is controlled by traffic lights.

At the same time a motorised scooter entered the crossing and travelled in a northerly direction where it was struck by the Hyundai station wagon.

The rider, a 97-year-old Margate man, was taken to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital but was pronounced deceased as a result of injuries sustained in the crash.

The driver of the car was uninjured and treated for shock at the scene.

Police are seeking anyone that may have witnessed the crash or may have a been in the area and has a dash camera to contact them via Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Forensic Crash Unit investigations are continuing.
