Background
At the Council Meeting on 31 March 2026, Council resolved to adopt the Draft Tower Crane Policy and to place it on public exhibition.
What is the Tower Crane Policy?
The Policy establishes a consistent, safe, and legally robust framework for the installation and operation of cranes (including tower cranes and mobile cranes) where any part of the plant, its jib/boom or its load occupies, oversails, slews or hoists on/over public roads or public land or otherwise impacts the public domain.
The Policy aims to:
- Protect public safety and access
- Safeguard Council assets and amenity
- Ensure transparent approvals, insurance and indemnity
- Align with NSW legislation and contemporary council practice.
