Public place shooting, man assaulted - Punchbowl

Police are investigating after a man was assaulted following a public place shooting at Punchbowl yesterday.

Police were called to a park on Viola Street just after 3pm (Friday 29 November 2019), after reports shots had been fired.

Officers from Campsie Police Area Command attended and established a crime scene.

Following inquiries, a 31-year-old man was arrested at a home on Roberts Road, Greenacre, with the assistance of officers from Bankstown Police Area Command and specialist resources.

He was taken to Campsie Police Station and later released pending further inquiries.

Police have been told several shots had been fired at the man in the park before he was assaulted.

Detectives from Campsie Police Area Command have commenced an investigation.

As inquiries continue, any witnesses or anyone with information that may assist investigators, is urged to come forward.
