Public Place Shooting - Prairiewood

Police have commenced an investigation into a shooting in Sydney's south west.

About 11.25pm yesterday (Friday 25 July 2025), officers from Fairfield City Police Area Command responded to reports of gun shots being fired into a unit along Calabria Lane, Prairiewood.

At the time of the incident there was an 80-year-old woman inside the premises.

There were no reports of any injuries.

A crime scene was established.

Police have been informed that a white Ford Ranger was seen in the vicinity at the time.

The incident is believed to be a case of mistaken identity.

There is no evidence at this stage to suggest this shooting is linked to an earlier shooting at Croydon Park.

As investigations commence police are urging anyone with information – or who was in the area at the time with any available dashcam/mobile phone footage – to contact Fairfield Police Station or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
