Public urged to report crime after drug-related arrest at Cobar

Police are urging community members to report drug supply after a man was charged with multiple drug-related offences in the state's central west.

Central North Police District Commander, Superintendent Andrew Hurst, said the arrest of a 50-year-old man in Cobar over the weekend doubles as an opportunity to encourage greater reporting about drug supply within the community.

"The Central North Police District remains committed to targeting illicit drugs in our communities, and the people who supply these drugs," he said.

"We rely on information from the community to investigate drug offences and make our communities safer.

"If you believe someone in your community is supplying drugs, please report this to your local police station or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000."

About 1.45pm on Friday (11 October 2019), officers attached to Central North Police District executed a search warrant at a home on Bathurst Street, Cobar.

Police seized approximately 176 grams of cannabis from within the house, as well as a quantity of cash, methylamphetamine, and drug paraphernalia.

Police also located a KTM trail bike alleged to have been stolen from Orange in May 2019, a blue Yamaha trail bike and power tools believed to be stolen.

The 50-year-old male occupant of the home was arrested and taken to Cobar Police Station where he was charged with supply prohibited drug, possess prohibited drug (x2), deal with property suspect proceeds of crime, possess prescribed restricted substance and good on premises suspected being stolen.

He was granted bail to appear at Cobar Local Court on Wednesday 30 October 2019.
