Purse stolen from elderly woman in West Tamworth

Police are investigating after an elderly woman had her purse snatched from her hands in West Tamworth yesterday, NSW Police say.

About 12.45pm yesterday, an 85-year-old woman walked towards the rear of a shopping village in Robert Street with her purse in her hand.

A man, described as Caucasian in appearance, about 25-years-old and wearing a white bike helmet with a black cap, a black jumper with black and cream coloured shorts, and Adidas ‘flip flops’ was loitering near the rear entrance.

The man was riding a green mountain bike as he rode towards the woman and snatched her purse before riding away.

Fortunately, the woman was not hurt during the incident.

Police are investigating the incident and are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

Police are urging anyone with information on the incident to call Crime Stoppers.
