Pursuit ends in arrest 23 January

A man has been arrested following a pursuit through the northern suburbs last night.

About 11.30pm on Sunday 22 January, police spotted a silver Holden Astra being driven suspiciously on South Road at Angle Park.

Patrols pursued the car onto Grand Junction Road and reported the car was travelling about 120km/h in a 60km/h zone and on the wrong side of the road.

PolAir took over the pursuit and tracked the car as it was being driven on Bridge Road, onto Smith Road and Onyx Street before it came to a stop on Garnet Drive at Salisbury East.

The driver attempted to run but was caught a short distance away and he was arrested without incident.

A 31-year-old man from Blakeview was charged with dangerous driving to escape a police pursuit, breach of bail and he was also arrested on outstanding matters including four counts of petrol theft and theft of a motor vehicle.

He was refused bail and will appear in Elizabeth Magistrates Court on Monday 23 January.
