Pursuit of stolen vehicle at Mackay

Police have charged a teenage boy after a stolen vehicle allegedly fled from officers in Mackay last night.

It will be alleged at around 8.45pm a BMW sedan was stolen from outside of a business on Greenfields Boulevard in Mount Pleasant before being later spotted by police travelling along Sam's Road in North Mackay.

Officers attempted to intercept the vehicle however it allegedly drove away at speed.

Just after 11pm a tyre deflation device was successfully deployed on the car along Glenella Connection Road at Foulden.

Police then followed the damaged car as it continued to travel along Heaths Road into an open soccer field before heading back onto Glenella Connection Road at low speed.

Officers utilised a police vehicle to successfully intercept the car soon after and three boys were taken into custody at the scene.

A 17-year-old North Mackay boy has since been charged with two counts of evasion and one count each of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, drink driving, driving unlicensed, enter premises and commit indictable offence, possess dangerous drugs and receive tainted property.

Two boys aged 17 and 12 are currently assisting police with their inquiries.
