Put your best glass forward for Best of Wine Tourism Awards

South Australian wineries and wine-related businesses are being urged to enter the South Australian Best of Wine Tourism Awards for the chance to be thrust into the international spotlight, with applications opening today.

The awards, which celebrate excellence and innovation in wine tourism, are part of Adelaide and South Australia's membership of the Great Wine Capitals Global Network.

Local winners will be announced in September 2019 and compete against nominees from nine other Great Wine Capitals in November 2019 at the international awards as part of the Great Wine Capitals Annual General Meeting in Bordeaux, France.

Minister for Primary Industries and Regional Development Tim Whetstone said applying for the awards provides wineries and wine related businesses with the opportunity to tell their story,

"Now in its fourth year in South Australia, the Best of Wine Tourism Awards allow us to recognise and applaud those in the wine tourism industry who are truly excelling at what they do in providing a superior experience and product," said Minister Whetstone.

"Our $2.15 billion wine industry continually reaches new heights with its innovative and premium wine tourism experiences.

"In South Australia we have many immersive wine experiences for people to try, which leave lasting impressions.

"My message to any South Australian winery or wine-related business with exceptional services is to put in an application - you could have a chance at being recognised on the world stage at the International Best of Wine Tourism Awards."

The Best of Wine Tourism Awards is open to any South Australian winery or wine related business which delivers outstanding service in one or more of the following categories:

  • Accommodation
  • Wine Tourism Restaurants
  • Sustainable Wine Tourism Practices
  • Architecture and Landscape
  • Art and Culture
