Stormwater drains at Culburra Beach and Orient Point will be cleared more frequently following a resolution at Council's Ordinary Meeting.
On Tuesday night, Council voted to adjust the existing, annual maintenance schedule to help mitigate flooding in low-lying areas during periods of heavy rainfall.
Maintenance works will now be conducted four times per year and the scheduled works will soon be published on Council's website. The drains were last cleared in early May.
Council will also bring forward its inspection of pipes to identify faults and will apply for a grant through the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to review drainage infrastructure in the Culburra and Orient Point areas.
