The Canadian Coast Guard's Inshore Rescue Boat stations in Quebec are winding down seasonal maritime search and rescue services.
The following stations in Quebec are already closed:
- Saint-Anicet: closed on Wednesday, September 3 at noon
- Trois-Rivières: closed on Monday, September 1 at 8 p.m.
The following stations will close on:
- Longueuil, Vaudreuil-sur-le-Lac, and Beaconsfield: Sunday, September 28 at 8 p.m.
- Sorel: Sunday, November 30 at noon
The public can report an incident 24 hours a day, 365 days a year by calling the Quebec Maritime Rescue Sub-Centre (MRSC) at 1-800-463-4393 or a Canadian Coast Guard Marine Communications and Traffic Services Centre by VHF radio (channel 16).
The Inshore Rescue Boat program employs and trains post-secondary students across Canada, to provide additional maritime search and rescue service during the busy summer season.
