- Swanbank E Power Station surpasses expectations, providing highest ever supply to energy market.
- Record output demonstrates importance of existing generators and the Electricity Maintenance Guarantee, as State delivers energy mix that best suits Queensland.
- Achievement follows delivery of an $80 million maintenance and upgrade program.
The Crisafulli Government is delivering more energy to Queensland households, with one State generator supplying the highest-ever output in its history.
CleanCo's Swanbank E gas-fired power station near Ipswich has generated a record 385 megawatts (MW) and exceeded operational expectations for the first time.
Responding to grid demand, the unit briefly peaked at 387MW, surpassing its technical design target and marking a major performance milestone for the publicly owned asset.
This achievement follows the safe and successful delivery of an $80 million maintenance and upgrade program, completed late last year.
The upgrade included major turbine works to improve efficiency, emissions performance and operational flexibility. It also boosted the local economy by $3-4 million through local procurement and services.
The Crisafulli Government's $1.6 billion Electricity Maintenance Guarantee sets out a framework around investment, performance and accountability for Queensland's power assets.
The recent Queensland Budget included more than $5 billion in 2025-26 for state-owned corporations to invest across the energy supply chain.
Treasurer and Minister for Energy David Janetzki said Swanbank E's record output highlighted the importance of the State's existing energy assets.
"The best way to bring down energy prices is to have more energy in the market, when Queenslanders need it and that means investing in our existing assets and their workers," Minister Janetzki said.
"Let's not forget power bills across Queensland rose 19.9 per cent under the former Labor Government, which was more than three times the national average.
"We know to encourage investment, we need to address energy costs and invest in an energy mix that provides for Queensland and at the heart of that is our Electricity Maintenance Guarantee.
"Our plan for affordable, reliable and sustainable energy includes fully utilising our coal-fired generators, gas and renewables, and a pragmatic transition to storing these renewables."
CleanCo Chief Executive Tom Metcalfe said the Swanbank milestone was the direct result of targeted investment and capability.
"This record generation result shows what's possible when we back our assets with the right maintenance, investment and operational focus," Mr Metcalfe said.
