Queensland's smashes through three top priorities: jobs, jobs, jobs

The Palaszczuk Government is smashing through job-creation targets, having created more than 160,000 since 2015 and with another 75,000 in its sights for the next financial year.

"We have the drive, determination and the team to just get on with the job," Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said.

"And our greatest priority is creating jobs.

"Our Skilling Workers for Queensland program, which targets disadvantaged job seekers, is a terrific example of how we’re supporting people across the State into jobs and training.

"In 2015 we made an election commitment to restore Skilling Queenslanders for Work after it was scrapped by the LNP.

"At the time, we said we would support 32,000 people over four years.

"Today, I’m proud to say we have surpassed that figure and more than 32,000 people have already been helped through the SQW program – reaching our target almost ten months ahead of schedule.

"Incredibly, the LNP went to the last election again talking about cutting the program.

"That’s 32,000 people who would still be without the training and skills this very important program has delivered."
