The Crisafulli Government is delivering a fresh start for the tourism sector, with the State confirming its place as the home of the holiday at the 40th prestigious Queensland Tourism Awards.
With the visionary 20-year tourism plan Destination 2045 setting the stage for 2025, Tourism Minister Andrew Powell joined industry leaders to celebrate the successful tourism businesses.
In line with key pillars of Destination 2045, this year's winners spanned 31 categories including experiences, events, ecotourism, cultural tourism, accommodation and accessible tourism.
The Crisafulli Government is delivering a fresh start for the awards – streamlining and simplifying the submission process, with the easier application process to be adapted across Australia – highlighting the strength of Queensland's tourism industry.
It's just one of the ways the Crisafulli Government is delivering for the tourism sector as part of the plan to set up 65,000 tourism businesses for success through to 2045.
From Major Tourist Attraction winner – GC Acqua Park on the Gold Coast, to RACQ People's Choice Experience winner – Paronella Park in Tropical North Queensland and the state's best Visitor Information Service –St George Region's Explore Centre in Outback Queensland, the 40-year anniversary of the Queensland Tourism Awards illuminates the path towards 2045.
Minister for the Environment and Tourism Andrew Powell said this year's awards celebration added to the industry highlight reel for 2025, from a record $6.8 billion international visitor spend for the year to June 2025, to a record $1 billion tourism budget over four years.
"Queensland is getting warmed up in the lead up to 2032 and the Queensland Tourism Awards is a testament to the industry's strength," Minister Powell said.
"With Destination 2045 as our roadmap, we've set ambitious goals – from becoming the events capital of Australia and a world-leader in ecotourism – and we're already well on our journey.
"Our top tourism businesses - including Abbey Medieval Festival in Caboolture (Major Festivals and Events winner) and Fun Over 50 Holidays - Immersive Tours and Adventures Brisbane (Steve Irwin Award for Ecotourism winner) - are shining examples of what Queensland's tourism industry has to offer the world.
"From capturing the serenity of our rainforests or glistening blue seas, to the hustle and bustle of our vibrant cities - Queensland's 65,000 tourism businesses capture the State's spirit, something that can't be felt or found anywhere else."
Queensland Tourism Industry Council (QTIC) CEO Natassia Wheeler said the events were about professional growth as well as recognition.
"The Queensland Tourism Awards represent more than a single night of celebration – they're the end point of a journey that starts months earlier," Ms Wheeler said.
"Tourism is one of Queensland's most important economic pillars – supporting more than 260,000 jobs and contribution billion to the state's economy each year.
"It's important to recognize and strengthen the talent that underpins our success in the lead up to the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games."
