Quick arrest after assault at Port Adelaide, South Australia

A man is in police custody after a stabbing at Port Adelaide this afternoon.

Police and paramedics were called to Church Street, Port Adelaide about 3.20pm on Tuesday 2 April by reports a man had been stabbed.

A 31-year-old man was found with an injury to his shoulder and taken by ambulance to the Royal Adelaide Hospital. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Police searched the area and located the suspect nearby. The 28-year-old Port Adelaide man was arrested and will be interviewed by police.

The investigation is in its early stages, but police believe the men involved are known to each other and this was not a random incident.
