Racing Factions Clash, Felix Ellis Remains Inactive, March 2024

Tas Labor

It is now absolute crisis time for Tasmanian Racing.

Tonight's Tasmania Cup is, as the name suggests, one of Tasmania's premier racing events. It is a Group 1. But the support card will be riddled with participants who TasRacing wanted to warn off and ORI refuses to act on.

TasRacing has now publicly called on the Director of Racing to do something "as a matter of urgency". But we all know the Director of Racing never does.

Tasmania's two racing entities are effectively at war. TasRacing wants Ben Yole and his accomplices gone and the Director of Racing does not. What does Felix Ellis think?

Does he have even the very basic understanding of racing to know that these people should not be at a racetrack?

The Murrihy Review found participants were involved in massive animal welfare breaches, race fixing and team driving. There is more than enough evidence to lay charges and stand these participants down but inexplicably three months after Felix Ellis received the report, they are still racing.

Jeremy Rockliff abandoned racing when he voted three times that he had confidence in Madeleine Ogilvie as Minister for Racing. Felix Ellis might actually be even worse.

What the Tasmanian Liberals have done to Tasmanian Racing is shocking. They have let the stench of their government's failing integrity, poor governance and follow them to the track. It is not fair on the participants.
