RAP drug arrests, Gold Coast

Officers from the Gold Coast’s Rapid Action and Patrols group (RAP) arrested 31 offenders on 81 drug and weapons related charges after a series of raids across the Gold Coast District last week, Queensland Police say.

The RAP executed nine search warrants in the suburbs of Pimpama, Coombabah, Runaway Bay, Surfers Paradise, Burleigh Heads, Southport, Varsity Lakes and Upper Coomera resulting in the seizure of cannabis, methamphetamine and two rifles.

Police will also allege that a small hydroponic setup was located at a residence on The Esplanade in Coombabah.

Officer in Charge of RAP, Senior Sergeant Mat Kelly said that the arrests signal another successful week acting on information supplied by the community through Crime Stoppers and other intelligence sources.

"We are committed to removing harmful drugs from the Gold Coast community and we accomplish that through proactive policing and information from the public. Every drug, every weapon police seize contributes to the safety of our community."

"We continue to encourage members of the public to contact Crime Stoppers if they notice suspicious behaviour in and around their neighbourhoods. Together we can help disrupt drug networks on the Gold Coast." Senior Sergeant Kelly said.
