Readout: Minister of Foreign Affairs speaks with his South Korean counterpart

The Honourable Marc Garneau, Minister of Foreign Affairs, today spoke with Chung Eui-yong, South Korea's Minister of Foreign Affairs.

The ministers discussed ways that Canada and South Korea can work together to further their cooperation in areas of common interest, including addressing the global pandemic, advancing trade and investment, partnering on science and technology, combatting climate change and supporting the women, peace and security agenda.

Minister Garneau emphasized the importance of denuclearization and diplomacy in the promotion of peace on the Korean Peninsula.

Finally, the ministers concluded by reiterating their mutual commitment to building upon the Canada-South Korea strategic partnership in the years to come.
