Reappeal for information after ute destroyed by fire at Lithgow

Police are reappealing for information after a vehicle was destroyed by a suspicious fire in the state's Central Tablelands.

Shortly after 3am on Tuesday 30 March 2021, emergency services responded to reports of a ute on fire outside a home on Coalbrook Street, Lithgow.

Fire and Rescue NSW attended and extinguished the fire.

Officers attached to the Chifley Police District attended and commenced an investigation.

Police will allege the remains of a Molotov cocktail were found at the scene.

Following inquiries, police wish to speak with two males who were seen to enter the backyard of the home before the fire began around 3.15am.

The CCTV depicts the males running towards the laneway after the fire took place.

As inquiries continue, police would like to speak with the occupants of a white sedan travelling west on Coalbrook Street from the Sandford Avenue intersection shortly before the incident occurred.

The vehicle is depicted in CCTV footage to turn right onto Wear Street, before turning left into an unnamed laneway behind the home.

Police are yet to establish a motive for the attack.
