Reappointment of NT Public Guardian

NT Government

The NT Government has reappointed Beth Walker as the NT Public Guardian for a term of five years from 1 February 2021.

Ms Walker continues her role, having effectively led the Office of the Public Guardian towards a contemporary guardianship framework since the commencement of the Guardianship of Adults Act 2016.

Ms Walker has an extensive background in areas such as mental health, aged care, disability services, children and families. She has been a panel member on various committees and tribunals within the human services sector.

Ms Walker has a comprehensive knowledge of guardianship issues in the Northern Territory, undertaking extensive advocacy to protect and promote the human rights of Territorians with impaired decision-making capacity.

Our Government is confident Ms Walker's experience, expertise, leadership and advocacy will put the Office of the Public Guardian in good stead over the coming term and we wish her well as she continues to serve in this pivotal role.
