Recent rain impacts open space mowing maintenance activities

Macedon Ranges Shire Council wishes to advise residents that the recent excessive rainfall activity has impacted seasonal mowing activities that are due to occur in the shire's public open space areas and Council-owned and managed land.

The Macedon Ranges has experienced higher-than-average rainfall recently, which has contributed significantly to longer grass and muddy areas in public open space areas.

The wet conditions have affected Council's mowing and maintenance schedules, with areas needing to dry sufficiently for mowing to occur. The saturated ground conditions have the potential for machinery to get bogged, causing damage to both the ground and machinery and reducing the effectiveness of the service.

Staff anticipate further maintenance delays with more rain forecast for the coming weeks.

Council apologises for any inconvenience this may cause. We continue to work to ensure our open spaces are well maintained and meet the needs and expectations of our community.
