Reckless wounding, man charged in East Ballina

A man has been charged following investigations into a reckless wounding of a man in East Ballina overnight, NSW Police say.

About 7pm (Monday 5 November 2018) two men both aged 37, who live together, were involved in an argument at a unit on Seaview Street, East Ballina.

The argument escalated, where the 37-year-old man allegedly punched the other man several times to the face, before using a pair of scissors to inflict numerous wounds to the man’s cheek, lip and ear.

The injured man went to Ballina Hospital for treatment and has since been released from hospital.

About 10.15pm (Monday 5 November 2018) officers from Richmond Police District arrested a 37-year-old man at a unit in East Ballina.

He was taken to Ballina Police Station where he was charged with reckless grievous bodily harm (x2), and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

He was refused bail to appear at Lismore Local Court today (Tuesday 6 November 2018).
