Congratulations to the deserving Tasmanian recipients of this year’s Resilient Australia Awards.
These prestigious awards recognise and encourage activities across Australia that cover all aspects of increasing disaster resilience. This includes risk assessment, research, education and training, information and knowledge management, and prevention, preparedness, response and recovery.
Community resilience is all about working together and looking after each other in times of crisis or need, and we’ve seen that tremendous Tasmanian community spirit again this year during a number of significant emergency events.
Our emergency services and partner agencies do an outstanding job at protecting Tasmanians and assisting communities to build resilience.
The Hodgman Liberal Government is proud to support our emergency services, in partnership with local councils and the Australian Government, providing a whole-of-nation, resilience-based approach to emergency management, and making Tasmanians lives better.
One of the key objectives of this valuable partnership is for communities across Australia to be more resilient to disaster incidents and better prepared to manage the effects of emergency situations.
The Tasmanian Government will continue to support our strong emergency service contingent of staff and volunteers, who are well trained in preparedness, response and recovery, so that Tasmanians can continue to enjoy living in safety.
Tasmanian entries in the 2018 Resilient Australia Awards were judged by an independent panel of senior representatives from the SES, Tasmania Fire Service, Tasmania Police, the Department of Premier and Cabinet, and the Local Government Association of Tasmania.
