Reconciliation takes action in Wagga Wagga

Wagga Wagga Elders shared their personal experiences and insights at a gathering in the Civic Centre on Monday 31 May to mark National Reconciliation Week.

The morning tea was an opportunity to celebrate and build on respectful relationships shared by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and other Australians. Wiradjuri Elder Aunty Mary Atkinson, Wiradjuri Elder Aunty Dorothy Whyman and Yorta Yorta Elder Uncle Hewitt Whyman shared their lived experiences with Council staff and community members.

"It's up to all of us. Our history is your history also. It's everybody's history, it's Australia's history. We can do this together," Aunty Mary said.
