Recovered property from overnight business burglaries Glenorchy, TAS

A 32-year-old man from Gagebrook is currently assisting Glenorchy Police after being located near a vehicle which evaded police in Derwent Park late last night, Tasmania Police say.

The vehicle was found to contain a significant amount of stolen property.

Uniformed officers responding to reports of a business burglary in Glenorchy, saw the vehicle and identified the driver as a person of interest.

The vehicle evaded police but was located a short time later, dumped in Goodwood.

The area was cordoned-off and searched and the man was located hiding in some bushes nearby.

Further investigations in relation to the burglary have identified at least 13 related Motor vehicle burglaries, a stolen trailer and approximately $25K of stolen property.

Detectives from Glenorchy police are making enquiries as to the involvement of a second person and ask anyone who has information they believe could assist this investigation to contact Police on 131 444, Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or online at Crimestopperstas.com.au

"Intuitive police work by the uniformed officers involved has provided detectives with a suspect and enabled the property to be returned to the business," said Detective 1/Constable Todd Plunkett.

"We are now following specific lines of enquiry relating to an additional offender and hope to lay charges shortly," he said.
