Job seekers are being encouraged to explore opportunities at Qantas's first dedicated innovation hub in the heart of Adelaide.

Dozens of positions at Qantas's Product Innovation Centre in Adelaide are already open for applications, with more than 400 skilled digital and technology roles set to be created over the next three years.

The centre will play a key role in developing the airline's next generation of customer-facing digital experiences, from flight bookings and customer service tools to personalised travel experiences.

The first 50 employees have already started work at the facility, with around half relocating to South Australia to take up their new roles.

Qantas is now recruiting for a further 40 positions as it continues to scale, which is expected to grow to more than 400 digital and technology jobs over the next three years.

Rachel Yangoyan, Qantas Chief Technology, AI and Transformation Officer, said the Adelaide hub would be central to the airline's future digital strategy.

"Where we're heading with technology and AI is about knowing our customers better, anticipating what they need, and making every part of their journey feel connected," Ms Yangoyan said.

"This centre is central to that. It's already helping us tap into some of the best talent in the country to build more personalised travel experiences for the millions of customers who fly with us every year."

The Product Innovation Centre has already begun delivering projects, with teams using AI-driven development processes to test, prototype and refine products more quickly.

According to Qantas, embedding AI into product development is helping teams analyse feedback, solve customer problems faster and accelerate the path from concept to customer-ready solutions.

Ms Yangoyan said Adelaide was a natural fit for the investment.

"Adelaide gives us access to world-class universities, a thriving tech community, and the ability to scale our in-house capability," she said.

"It's an investment in Australian innovation that will deliver real benefits for our customers into the future."

Qantas has also partnered with Adelaide University to establish a graduate pathway program aimed at developing the next generation of Australian technology professionals.

The initiative includes a research collaboration with Adelaide University's Australian Institute for Machine Learning (AIML), providing scholarships for PhD and Honours students through AIML's Industrial AI Program.

Interest in the graduate pathway has already been strong, with hundreds of applications received for the first intake, which is scheduled to commence in February 2027.
