Recycling Victoria - a welcome announcement for circular economy

Sustainability Victoria welcomes the announcement of Recycling Victoria, a bold and transformative 10-year plan to shift Victoria to a circular economy that wastes less and recycles more.

As a Victorian Government agency, we will play an integral role in delivering programs to support this announcement. We look forward to helping drive Victoria's transition to a circular economy and ensuring the community has a recycling system that can be relied on.

We are proud to have played a significant role in developing the policy and our work to transform the recycling sector is already underway, with the launch of $39.5 million in grants from the Recycling Victoria Infrastructure Fund to boost recycling capacity in Victoria.

Reducing waste and creating a strong recycling system is a shared responsibility. We look forward to partnering with businesses, governments and individuals to move the state towards a circular economy that is built on innovation.

What does this mean for us recycling at home?

We should all continue practising our good recycling habits at home. Refer to our handy online tool to find out what you can and can't recycle. If you can't find what you are looking for, contact your local council.

The new four-bin system will roll out progressively from 2021 and will be informed by community needs, consultation with councils and existing arrangements.
